Speaker
Description
Following the symposium presentations, the moderator will briefly introduce selected findings from a national survey by the Association of Japanese Medical Colleges (AJMC) on curriculum internationalization (1). The report will provide an overview of current practices related to medical English education, English-medium instruction, and other internationalization initiatives across Japanese medical schools. The survey reveals substantial variation in educational goals, curricular content, and instructional approaches. By identifying both shared practices and areas of divergence, the report will provide a foundation for discussion of what knowledge, skills, and competencies should form the core of English for medical purposes (EMP) education in Japanese medical schools. The findings will serve as a starting point for the panel's exploration of potential common expectations for EMP learning outcomes at graduation.
