The indico.global service (“indico.global”) is offered by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, as part of its mission to foster collaboration between scientists worldwide and in line with point “Infrastructure provision for open science” of the Organization’s Open Science policy.

Use of indico.global denotes agreement with the following terms of use:

1. indico.global is offered as a tool for the management of complex conferences, workshops and meetings of scientific or educationalnature across the globe's research communities. The use of indico.global is restricted to not-for-profit events.

2. Access to and use of indico.global is offered in the context of CERN’s Open Science mission, for the purposes of encouraging research processes and tools that foster international collaboration as well as enabling the free dissemination of knowledge and the accessibility of research output. Usage is limited to non-military purposes.

3. Dedicated categories can be requested free of charge by those without access to an Indico instance. Usage is limited to a maximum of 100 events per year and 250 participants per event, for any given institution/category. Anyone planning to use indico.global beyond these fair use limitations should contact hello@indico.global in order to obtain an authorization. CERN reserves the right to change these limits at any time and without notice, through an update of these Terms of Use.

4. By uploading content to indico.global, the uploader affirms that such content is correctly configured to be accessible only by the authorized persons, and that it complies with these Terms of Use, as well as any license conditions, third party rights and applicable laws, including, but not limited to, privacy, data protection and intellectual property rights¹.

5. The uploader is exclusively responsible for the content that they upload to indico.global and shall indemnify and hold CERN free and harmless from any related liability in connection with their use of the service.

6. Access to and use of indico.global and all content hosted thereon, as well as any associated support, are provided on an “as-is” and “best efforts” basis and without any warranty, express or implied. Access to, availability and use of indico.global are not guaranteed nor can be expected.

7. Hosting and making content available through indico.global does not represent any approval or endorsement of such content by CERN.

8. CERN excludes and disclaims all liability for damage resulting from users’ access, or inability to access, or use of indico.global. Users are exclusively responsible for their use of indico.global and shall indemnify and hold CERN and the content providers free and harmless from any related liability in connection with their use of indico.global.

9. Users of content shall respect copyright and all applicable license conditions. The download and use of content from indico.global does not amount to a transfer of intellectual property.

10. CERN reserves the right, without notice or liability and at its sole discretion, to restrict or remove a user’s access or remove any uploaded content, where it considers that such use of indico.global is inappropriate, interferes with its operations or violates these Terms of Use and/or any applicable laws.

11. These Terms of Use are subject to change by CERN at any time and without notice, other than through posting the updated Terms of Use on the indico.global website. Any revised Terms of Use shall become effective immediately upon posting.

12. indico.global is hosted at CERN and subject to CERN's special legal status as an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) and thus enjoys certain privileges and immunities under international law. Processing of personal data at CERN is governed by CERN's Operational Circular 11 (OC11) that offers data protection at the same high standards and is comparable to EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
