Description

By the time of this conference, the sPHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), and the RHIC program itself, will have concluded operations. RHIC is scheduled to shut down to begin construction of the Electron-Ion Collider, marking the end of 25 years of heavy-ion physics at the facility.

sPHENIX was designed as a high-rate detector optimized for precision measurements of jets, heavy flavor, and quarkonia in Relativistic Heavy-Ion collisions. Following a successful commissioning phase, the experiment completed its full physics runs, collecting high-quality data in both proton-proton and gold-gold collision systems.

This contribution summarizes the final operational status of the detector, highlights key performance metrics achieved during data taking, and outlines the scope of the recorded dataset. We also briefly discuss ongoing analysis efforts and the anticipated physics legacy of the sPHENIX program.
