Poster and Mini-Oral Presentations
In the IEEE Real Time conference series, we value the poster contributions highly and make a strong effort to help the participants find posters that are in their areas of interest.
To do this, each poster presenter may give a short (2 minute) "mini-oral." The mini-orals will be given in a dedicated plenary session before the poster session. The purpose of your mini-oral is to create interest in your poster, not to duplicate it, so instead of trying to cram as much information as possible into that short time, just summarize your poster using no more than 2 PowerPoint slides.
Poster Instructions and Helpful Tips
Posters will be displayed in electronic form only through dedicated screens, whereas traditional printed versions will not be accepted. Participants presenting a poster contribution are kindly requested to provide:
- An electronic copy of their poster in .pdf format;
- A close-up picture of the presenter to be used for the poster display;
All files should be uploaded on indico by Thursday, May 21, 2026. We kindly ask all the presenters to make sure the file names follow the instruction given in the "Uploading" section of this page.
The posters will be displayed on 50-inch screens, with an overall active area of 61.6 x 109.5 cm, and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, with a portrait orientation. The suggested size of the posters is that of the SO 216 A1 standard: 59.4 x 84.1 cm, with an aspect ratio of 1:1.414. (Due to the shape of the screen, and considering the space occupied by the top banner inserted by the system, an aspect ratio up to 1:1.5 can be effectively exploited. On the other hand, less oblong aspect ratios will result in a net loss of useful space at the bottom of the screen and are therefore discouraged.)
The close-up picture of the presenter will be automatically included in the graphical display by the system, and there is no need for the authors to manually insert it in the layout of the poster. The same holds for any additional information related to the conference. The final display will include a QR code redirecting to the pdf file of the poster.
A few dedicated stations, equipped with a special presentation mode, will be available on site to browse the entire poster program for the entire duration of the conference. To maximize the visibility of their contributions, all presenters are therefore strongly encouraged to upload all the material by May 21, independently from the date and time of the specific session, so that it can be transferred to the browsing stations before the beginning of the conference.
Note that the electronic version of the poster provided by the author will be converted to a raster image for the purpose of the display on the conference screens, and presenters should avoid using exceedingly small graphical elements of any type and/or low-resolution plots and images. As a final cross-check prior to submission, you can convert your poster into a 4k raster image, (e.g., in .png or .jpeg format) and verify that it is displayed correctly on your computer screen.
Uploading
When you go to "My Contributions" you will see 2 entries for your poster: the poster itself plus (if you signed up for a mini-oral) an additional entry for the mini-oral presentation. The mini-oral presentation is identified by having the abstract_ID in the title:

Clicking on the entry will show you for which session you are scheduled. Upload the poster and the closeup picture to the Poster session:

and the mini-oral presentation to the Mini Oral session

Please use following naming scheme for your files:
Mini oral Slides: MS_<session>_
.pdf (must be a pdf and not exceed 1 M in size)
PDF version of Poster: PO_<session>_
.pdf
A Close-up Picture of the poster presenter : CP_<session>_
.pdf
A Poster is a Presentation, Not Just an Object
One of the authors, or a colleague who is registered for the conference and who can speak knowledgeably about the material, must be physically near the poster throughout the session (with reasonable breaks, of course, and opportunities for the presenter to walk around and look at other posters). Posters left abandoned, with no one nearby to answer questions, are much less valuable to other attendees. Such posters are strongly discouraged and will be ineligible for Proceedings papers.
