Visa Information for International Participants
This page provides information about visa requirements for travel to Vietnam to the best of our knowledge at the of writing.
Visa Free Travel
Nationals of certain countries may visit Vietnam without visa. These countries include:
Europe: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
Asia: Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand
The time limit for this kind of visa free travel is now 45 days for most countries - please verify for your case!
eVisa
Vietnam is now issueing eVisa to nationals of ALL COUNTRIES, including China (中国大陆) - everyone can obtain a visa through an easy online process.

You'll need to upload a scan of your passport, a portrait photo, provide some basic personal information, and pay USD 25 online. After a few working days you will receive by email a link to download a PDF document. Print it and bring it with you to Vietnam. Show this document at immigration and they'll stamp the visa in your passport. See here for an example of the PDF.
Current experience with the eVisa process
Here are recommended answers to some of the questions:
- Only fill in the mandatory fields (red asterisk *)
- Religion: it is ok to say "none"
- Purpose of entry: choose "summit, conference" or "tourism"
- Entry/Exit checkpoint: most of you will either choose "Tan Son Nhat Int Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)" or "Noi Bai Int Airport (Ha Noi)"
- Intended temporary address in Vietnam: put your hotel's address. If you don't know yet, use "Seagull Hotel, 489 An Duong Vuong, Quy Nhon 591300", city/province is "Binh Dinh"
- Health insurance arranged for stay in Vietnam: in our experience you may answer "No" and you will still get the visa
- Name of hosting organisation: leave empty

Warning about online visa agencies
If you google for "Vietnam Visa" you will find many links to agencies that will offer their service to obtain a visa. You don't need their help, just use the offical eVisa link as explained above.
