Description

We developed a new data acquisition (DAQ) system for subthreshold pion production experiments (SUPER). This system reads self-triggered digitizer signals from 768 CsI(Tl) crystals and a signal from a beam monitor in streaming mode. The SUPER needs both systems to constantly monitor the beam flux and trigger rates. We successfully tested beam commissioning of a SUPER DAQ prototype using a 3 × 3 CsI detector. The amplified pulse shape from the CsI(Tl) detector was recorded using a 62.5 MHz digitizer (V1740D), and the beam trigger signal was sent to a triggerless DAQ board (AMANEQ). By analyzing the timestamp information, we confirmed that the trigger rates of both systems were consistent within 0.5%. We plan to use this new DAQ system for the first experiment (RCNP E610) of the SUPER campaign, which will handle trigger rates of up to 50 kHz. This campaign will continue at further heavy-ion facilities such as RIBF and RAON.
