Description

Heralded quantum entanglement relies on stochastic
single-photon detection events to establish correlations between
remote qubits. The phase of the generated entangled state
depends on the photon arrival time, making each heralding event
associated with a different, time-dependent phase. Deterministic
use of the entanglement thus requires real-time feed-forward op-
erations that correct this detection-time-dependent phase before
decoherence occurs. We present a hardware-based, event-driven
feed-forward system that addresses this requirement. The system
processes dual asynchronous single-photon detection channels
and implements programmable temporal acceptance windows at
the tens-of-picoseconds scale. Photon arrival times are measured
via time-to-digital conversion (TDC), and events falling within
the configured windows trigger conditional feed-forward control
signals for phase correction on remote qubits.
