Description

We present a scalable digital readout for SiPM matrices in TOF-PET using the HRFlexToT front-end ASIC and a multi-channel FPGA TDC. HRFlexToT delivers per-channel pulse encoding for joint time/energy extraction (linear ToT and Time+Energy PWM) and provides a fast LVDS timing-OR for flexible triggering. On the FPGA, a tapped-delay-line TDC with Nutt interpolation combines a coarse counter with calibrated fine time, where calibration is derived from histogram-based bin-width estimation and a characteristic curve mapping to picosecond timestamps. A Cyclone 10GX design-space exploration indicates feasible 64-channel implementations with ~50–100 ps rms timing precision with ~40% area occupation, 35.1 ps LSB and 40.2 ps rms precision.
