Description
A very simple question, with an unusually nuanced answer. In this talk, we will explore some of its most surprising aspects. From the search for causality in quasi-normal-mode spectra, to violations of causality in heavy-ion collision simulations, we will follow the question wherever it leads. Particular attention will be devoted to causality as a mathematical property of partial differential equations, highlighting recent attempts both to enforce it and to avoid relying on it altogether.
