Quantum information theoretic objects like the two point function or mutual information can be used to probe the geometry of spacetime, recovering the metric from measurements of a quantum field theory. Here, we give an overview of how this is done and extend it to quantum fields with a Lorentz covariant ultraviolet cut-off in flat and curved spacetimes, as well as fields under a wavelet...

We propose a scheme by which a wavelet bulk description of a quantum field theory (QFT) can be equipped with an information metric based on local multiscale correlation functions. The method is applicable to any quadratic QFT that need not be a conformal field theory (CFT). The resulting metric is that of (asymmetrically) warped Euclidean anti-de Sitter (AdS) space. We study the relationship...

Exceptional points (EPs) are non-Hermitian spectral singularities where two or more complex eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenvectors coalesce. EPs and related topological phenomena continue to be investigated in a wide range of experimental settings. This talk will cover recent work on locating EPs in the eigenspectrum of free fermion quantum spin chains. At EPs the Hamiltonian becomes...

Quantum tunnelling underpins important phenomena ranging from scanning tunnelling microscopy to the formation of heavy elements in stars. For stellar fusion to occur, nuclei must overcome the barrier formed by the competition between the nuclear and Coulomb forces. The best models of fusion underestimate the reaction rates at energies far below the barrier, predicting that reactions like...

Atomic theory plays an irreplaceable role in the determination of nuclear moments from measured hyperfine structure. Such quantities permit the interrogation of nuclear structure in model-independent ways. Indeed, magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments have become standard benchmarks for nuclear models, but higher-order moments can impose additional and unique constraints.
Atomic...
