Description
White dwarfs offer a unique laboratory for studying matter under strongly coupled and partially degenerate conditions. With the upcoming space‑based gravitational‑wave detectors, such as LISA, binary white dwarfs will become a major source of continuous gravitational‑wave signals. These observations will open a new window onto the internal physics of white dwarfs, providing access to properties that are difficult to infer from electromagnetic observations alone.
In this poster, I will explore the extent to which future gravitational-wave observations can be used to probe the interior of white dwarfs. I will show how matter effects can modify the gravitational-wave signal through tidal effects and I will present numerical calculations of the tidal deformabilities of white dwarfs.
