Description
This is a new test of modified gravity using gravitational-wave experiments, based on three-point correlation functions of the stochastic gravitational-wave background. While standard analyses focus on tensor polarisations predicted by General Relativity, many alternative theories allow additional scalar modes. We show that bispectrum-based observables provide a robust way to isolate these non-tensorial polarisations. Our framework applies to a wide range of detectors, including ground-based interferometers, pulsar timing arrays, and astrometric experiments, opening a novel avenue to probe fundamental gravity with current and future gravitational-wave data.
