Description

This work aims to implement likelihood profile techniques within the SimpleMC framework as a frequentist approach to cosmological parameter estimation. The method consists of fixing a parameter of interest while doing MLE with respect to the remaining free parameters, allowing the construction of one-dimensional likelihood profiles. To improve the efficiency of the parameter exploration, covariance information from previous MCMC chains will be used to define adaptive proposal steps. The resulting implementation will provide a complementary alternative to Bayesian inference for parameter estimation and confidence interval construction, and will be applicable to a variety of cosmological models and parameters.
