Tuorla Observatory
(Väisälä Space Park)
We plan to organize an excursion to the Tuorla Observatory (aka Väisälä Space Park), tentatively, on Tuesday evening.
Founded in 1952 by the renowned Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä, the observatory served as the headquarter of the University of Turku astronomers until 2018. Since then, it has served as a Science Center, hosting the Yrjö Väisälä Museum and the Tuorla Planetarium. You can read more about it here.
During the excursion, the participants will have the opportunity to participate in guided tours. The tours will focus on the telescopes and other scientific equipment on site as well as the museum and planetarium.
