The Nordic-Baltic Astronomy Days 2026 is the first large-scale gathering of Nordic and Baltic astronomy researchers in nearly 36 years, making it the spiritual successor of the 1990 Uppsala conference.
This conference will take place in Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel, in Turku, between May 26th and 29th, 2026. More details about the conference venue are found here.
The main theme of this conference is networking, with focuses on:
- Scientific presentation given by junior researchers
- Nordic-Baltic cooperation within international collaborations (e.g., ESO, CTAO, NOT, SKA, ESA)
- Dedicated junior-senior networking session
The highlight speakers are:
- Jarle Brinchmann (Director of Science at ESO)
- Petri Väisänen (Director of NOT and FINCA; University of Turku)
- Erin O'Sullivan (IceCube Spokesperson; Uppsala University)
- Timo Prusti (Gaia Project Scientist at ESA; Masaryk University)
- David Hobbs (PI for Gaia and GaiaNIR; Lund Observatory)

The current fee is 100 EUR for junior researchers (i.e., Master and PhD students) and 150 EUR for senior researchers (i.e., postdoctoral researchers). This fee will include:
- Conference lunch for 3 days
- Social dinner for 1 evening
- Conference coffee-break snacks for 4 days
- Free public transportation access for 5 days
- Excursion to the Tuorla Observatory (Space Park Väisälä)
We have received several grants to partially reimburse the travel and accommodation costs of our participants, especially juniors. These are awarded as a Travel & Accommodation Aid, which the participants can request when registering.
