Transportation

Participants may apply for Travel & Accommodation Aid.

Free public transportation in the Turku area

In agreement with the Visit Turku Archipelago organization, we will provide all of our registered participants free public transportation between May 26—30 (the duration of the conference and one day after). Our participants will be able to access all Turku area public transportation vehicles (Föli buses and water buses) free of charge by scanning a QR code which we will provide later.

Plan your route via the Föli app

We recommend downloading the Föli app (Play Store / Apple Store) to conveniently plan your public transportation route across the Turku region. Föli operates in Turku, Raisio, Rusko, Naantali, Kaarina, Lieto, and Paimio. For interesting places to visit see Sightseeing in Turku.

Ferrying directly to Turku

There are direct ferries to Turku from Stockholm and, possibly, from Tallinn. Turku harbor is at a 20-minute bus ride from the conference venue.

We recommend ferrying over flying as it is cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

Flying directly to Turku

Turku has an international airport, located at a 30-minute bus ride from the conference venue.

There are typically direct flights to Turku from Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Riga as well as, possibly, Gothenburg.

Via bus from Helsinki airport

There are direct flights to Helsinki (Vantaa) airport from all major Nordic and Baltic cities.

Direct bus tickets from Helsinki airport to Turku (main bus station) can be purchased from Matkahuolto. The trip takes around 2 hours.

In Turku, we recommend getting off at the Tuomikirkko (Cathedral) station, which is one before the main bus station. From the Cathedral, it is only a 15-minute riverside walk to the conference venue.

Via train from Helsinki airport

There are direct flights to Helsinki (Vantaa) airport from all major Nordic and Baltic cities.

Train tickets from Helsinki airport to Turku (city center, Logomo) can be purchased from VR. The ticket includes a commuter ride from Helsinki airport to Pasila and then an intercity train ride from Pasila to Turku (city center, Logomo; 20-minute walk to the conference venue). This trip takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Please note that the direct bus option mentioned above is faster and more convenient than this train option.
