Description

This work presents measurements made with the CAEN A5202 FERS-5200 board, which integrates two Citiroc-1A chips, for a total of 64 acquisition channels, and the possibility to synchronize up to 128 boards. Besides the use of this chip for single photon spectra and counting, this works wants to explore the possibility to use it also to acquire γ energy spectra from scintillator detectors coupled with SiPMs. In particular, we use Caesium Iodine (CsI), Cerium-doped luthetium Yttrium Orthosilicate (LYSO(Ce)), and Bismuth Germanate (BGO) crystals, which are very common detectors both for the use in industrial applications and in fundamental nuclear physics research. Future plans are in progress to perform measurements with faster crystals like Lanthanum Bromide (LaBr3) and Cerium Bromide (CeBr3). ASICs chips with higher shaping time than Citiroc-1A and different pulse processing were already successfully used for γ spectroscopy. This would be the first time that Citiroc-1A chip, which has a maximum shaping time of 87.5 ns, is used for γ spectroscopy measurements. We expect to achieve resolutions compatible with literature and with a complementary system which uses a digitizer (CAEN DT5720A) to perform charge integration on the signals from SiPM. Measurements with plastic scintillators are also performed to measure the energy loss of cosmic rays.
