Description

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is broad-scope neutrino experiment located China. The main goal of the experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering through the oscillation pattern of reactor antineutrinos. The muon tracker referred to as Top Tracker (TT) is part of JUNO's veto system. The Top Tracker is key to track the muons crossing the Central Detector (CD), facilitating the characterisation of the cosmogenic background.
It is composed of three layers of plastic scintillator strips refurbished from OPERA's Target Tracker, structured in 496 modules. Each layer has two planes of scintillator strips arranged in a perpendicular configuration, allowing to reconstruct the crossing point of the muon with a 2.6$\times$2.6~cm$^{2}$ granularity leading to 0.2$^\circ$ angular resolution on the muon tracks. A new dedicated electronics has been developed to cope with the cavern natural radioactivity. The Top Tracker has been installed on top of JUNO's Central Detector during the first semester of 2025. This poster will present the Top Tracker and its initial performances.
