Description
Nuclear fission has been used as a tool for the study of nuclear propierties since its discovery in 1939. A new approach was performed in the context of the R3B collaboration, at the FAIR facilities, in which knockout reactions were used to induce fission in ${}^{238}$U, which will allow to characterise the excitation energy of the process. The CALIFA calorimeter, a key part of the set-up, will be used to reconstruct the momentum of the two protons coming out the $(p,2pf)$ reaction. Preliminary results show that kinematic variables are well reconstructed and in good agreement with theory.
