Description
Axion-like particles (ALPs) are potential dark matter candidates which are proposed as a solution to a problem in the current Standard Model of Particle Physics- the lack of an expected violation of Charge Conjugation & Parity (CP) symmetries. ALPs are strong contenders for dark matter candidates as they interact minimally with both “standard” matter and light, and furthermore are low-energy and non-relativistic particles. ALP-photon couplings are expected to lead to radio photon decays, and these signals can be searched for by taking spectroscopic radio data from neighbouring radio sources (chiefly dwarf galaxies) and searching for expected ALP decay signals. Individual bounds can be imposed onto source data, and these local bounds can thereafter be combined and integrated with global bounds.
