Description

We study confining flux tubes in compact U(1) gauge theory in (2+1) dimensions using matrix product states and a recently introduced plaquette basis for the dual Hamiltonian. For open strings between static charges, we compute both the static potential and the transverse flux-tube profile and compare them with effective string theory predictions. We also determine the potential of closed strings winding around the spatial volume.
