On-campus childcare options often require advanced reservation, involve longer attendance period, and/or are costly. Two options worth checking are:
Terp Quest Summer Camp for school-age children
Terp Quest is a UMD Recreation and Wellness day camp based at Eppley Recreation Center, for rising 1st through rising 7th grade campers. The one-week tuition is listed as $325, plus optional extended-care fees. At the moment, registration is at capacity for all weeks but you can join the waitlist in case openings occur. You can email terpquest@umd.edu with registration-related inquiries.
UMD Child Development Center / Bright Horizons
The University of Maryland Child Development Center, operated by Bright Horizons, is a National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited facility. It is located at 4601 Calvert Road, College Park, and is open 7:00 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday. This is a good childcare center, but short-term visitor availability is not guaranteed; you would need to inquire directly about openings, backup-care eligibility, or temporary summer enrollment by calling 240-916-6763.
