Description

The galaxy power spectrum and bispectrum are now standard tools for cosmological inference from spectroscopic surveys. The next step is the trispectrum, or galaxy four-point function, which contains valuable new information about nonlinear structure formation and the early Universe, but is substantially more challenging to model and interpret. For the first time, we build all the ingredients needed for a full-shape EFTofLSS galaxy trispectrum analysis, including galaxy bias, stochasticity, IR resummation, FoG counterterms, AP distortions, binning effects, and covariance. We validate our model by performing joint full-shape P+B+T cosmological inference, in both real and redshift space, on a very large effective volume that allows for precision tests of the model and determination of scale cuts. We then repeat the analysis in a DESI-like volume to assess the cosmological information in the trispectrum. This provides a path toward using the three-dimensional large-scale structure to constrain new-physics scenarios with distinctive signatures in the galaxy trispectrum, in particular primordial non-Gaussianity.
