Description
The cosmic microwave background (CMB) traces the matter distribution through the imprints left by its interactions with large-scale structure. Together, the CMB and large-scale structure probes provide complementary insights into the matter distribution at different epochs of the Universe. Their distinct theoretical modeling and observational systematics make cross-correlations between them a particularly powerful probe.
I will focus on results about the cross-correlations of the thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich (tSZ) effect and the galaxy clustering signal. The tSZ signal, originating from the CMB with Compton-y maps from Planck, ACT, and SPT, is sensitive to the integrated thermal pressure of hot gas in the Universe. The galaxy clustering signal traces the galaxy distribution from collapsed matter. We will discuss how the astrophysics of baryons, impacting the gas and galaxy distributions, can affect cosmology in the context of unWISE galaxies and EUCLID.
