Description

The galaxy power spectrum is a powerful probe of the large-scale structure of the universe and allows us to obtain constraints for many cosmological parameters. However, standard analyses assume a cosmological model to define the theoretical linear power spectrum shape, which makes the analysis model dependent. The recently proposed FreePower method seeks to produce model independent analyses of the power spectrum. The linear matter power spectrum is divided into a set of parameters, whose values are free to vary, corresponding to a number of k-bins, which are then constrained during the MCMC. The method is based on the combined effects of the Redshift Space Distortions and the Alcock-Paczyński effect. In this ṕoster, we first give an overview of the FreePower method foundations and approach, then present preliminary results from applications of FreePower to data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS), in which we try to obtain model agnostic constraints on cosmological parameters such as the linear growth rate and the Hubble parameter, and also estimate the matter clustering parameter sigma-8
