Description

The NOvA Experiment uses the NUMI beam at Fermilab and two functionally identical liquid-scintillator detectors located 14 mrad off-axis: a ~300-ton Near Detector (ND) about 1 km from the target and a 14-kton Far Detector (FD) 810 km away in Ash River, Minnesota. The off-axis configuration produces a narrow-band neutrino spectrum peaked near ~2 GeV, and the ND collects a high-statistics sample.

This poster reports the current status of a short-baseline sterile-neutrino search using the NOvA ND in a (3+1) framework with combined neutrino-mode and antineutrino-mode data. We build oscillation-sensitive spectra for muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutrino appearance using updated event selections. We present the current status of the analysis, and outline the remaining steps toward a full ND sterile-neutrino search.
