Description
MicroBooNE is a liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) that provides high-resolution imaging of neutrino-argon interactions, enabling detailed reconstruction of final states containing pions. Neutral pion ($\pi^0$) production in muon-neutrino interactions is a sensitive probe of resonance production and nuclear effects, and a key background for the low energy excess, sterile neutrino, and broader beyond Standard Model (BSM) searches in MicroBooNE. This poster summarizes MicroBooNE’s $\pi^0$ production measurements, including total and single- and double-differential cross sections for charged-current and neutral-current $\nu_\mu$-argon interactions with $\pi^0$ in the final state. The results span the $\Delta$-resonance and higher-resonance regions, directly testing neutrino interaction models and their treatment of resonance production and final-state interactions. These measurements provide essential constraints on neutrino-argon interaction modeling and help reduce systematic uncertainties for future experiments, particularly DUNE, where pion production will dominate event rates.
