On 22 May, we will inform you whether your submission has been accepted as a talk, poster, or poster + flash talk.
Posters
Poster are required to be in A1 portrait format (59.4cm x 84.1cm) with a minimum recommended resolution of 300dpi. Due to the constraints of the venue, we unfortunately won't be able to accommodate other poster formats.
Talks
If your submission is accepted as a talk, please prepare for a 12 minute talk plus 3 minutes for questions. We will require you to stick to time, as we only schedule a 15-minute slot for every speaker.
You're welcome to upload your presentation ahead of time to Indico (instructions will be provided in the acceptance email), but otherwise please bring the slides on a USB stick on the day and make sure they are transferred onto the presentation computer before your session.
Please note that the computer used for presentations is a standard UCL-supplied Windows PC running Microsoft Office. We therefore can only accept Microsoft PowerPoint (*.pptx) files. We also strongly encourage you to check that all fonts, and images render correctly in advance, particularly if you normally use Microsoft Office for Mac, to avoid any unpleasant surprises on the day.
Flash Talks
If you've been chosen for a 3-minute flash talk, we'll be in touch on 22 May with all the details.
Flash talks are designed to showcase your poster by very briefly outlining the approach and main finding(s) of your research.
We're running a tight schedule, so the 3-minute limit will be strictly enforced. Speakers who run over will be cut off to keep the session on track, so please rehearse and time your talk carefully in advance. Please bring the slides on a USB stick on the day and make sure they are transferred onto the presentation computer before your session.

Poster Printing
You will have until 31 May, 23:59 to upload your poster PDF (A1 Portrait) for poster printing. You will receive further information on 22 May PM once the ECR committee will contact you to confirm whether you have been selected to present a poster, a talk, or a flash talk+poster.
If you already have a poster (no larger than A1 and in portrait format), you're welcome to bring it with you on the day. The same applies if you're unable to meet the 31 May deadline for the free printing service - please arrange to print your poster independently and bring it to the venue on the day!
Lay Abstract Guidelines
Your lay abstract will be reviewed by Moorfields Eye Charity patients, who won't read your scientific abstract. Keep these things in mind:

- Please include a clear, accessible title and avoid jargon or technical terms.
- It can help to structure your abstract (e.g. background, research question, methods, and expected or known outcomes) for clarity.
| The Best Image and Scientific Visualisation Competition will open shortly. You will receive a separate email after submitting your abstract. |
