Description
A series of transverse wigglers can impart designed phase space correlations on a beam. In this scheme, individual transverse wigglers are characterized by three control parameters—phase, amplitude, and frequency—that determine its cosine modulation. Typically, 5-10 wigglers are required to shape a target correlation, and determining these parameters and tuning them during operation become significant practical challenges. While Fourier series provide a useful approximation for periodic correlations and can determine the choice of wiggler parameters, practical tuning of these parameters in an experimental setting remains unclear. A study has been initiated to address this challenge, and its progress will be presented.
