Description
A collider capable of reaching 10 TeV parton-center-of-momentum (pCM) energy is highly desired for new particle physics experiments. A muon collider is an appealing candidate due to its fundamental particle nature and minimal radiation losses compared to other leptons like electrons and positrons. Fermilab’s Muon Campus has already delivered muon beams to the g-2 experiment and will soon provide muons for the Mu2e experiment. In this work, we evaluate the existing beamline design for a potential muon collider demonstrator at Fermilab. Simulations using G4Beamline were performed to examine the effectiveness of the current beam lattice design for 3.1 GeV/c muons to accommodate 200 MeV/c muons. Additional studies into ionization cooling of the muon beam are examined.
