Description

Recent results of the Pierre Auger Observatory are going to be presented and the upgrade AugerPrime will be explained. A focus will be given on the recently published results on the arrival direction of the highest energetic cosmic rays which indicates the extragalactic origin of these particles. This result shed light on a 50-year puzzle regarding the origin of ultra-high energetic particles. We will also discuss our results related to particle physics such as the muon excess, the measurement of the proton-air cross-section and the cosmic ray composition. The potentiality of the upgrade under construction (AugerPrime) to select a set of light events is going to be explained and the improvements in the anisotropy calculations will be demonstrated. The AugerPrime is going to be operational until 2025, our motivation to construct it and our confidence in the important science to be done is going to be discussed in this presentation.
