Description

The W boson mass is measured using proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt s=13$ TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 16.8 fb$^{-1}$ recorded during 2016 by the CMS experiment. The W boson mass is extracted using single-muon events via a highly granular maximum likelihood fit of the transverse momentum, pseudorapidity, and charge distribution of the selected muons, yielding one of the most precise measurements of the W mass to date.
