The conference takes place at AVRA Imperial Hotel, located 25 km (15 miles) west of Chania, see the map below.
Traveling to Chania
By air:
The recommended airport, closest to the conference site, is the Chania International Airport (CHQ).
The other option is Heraklion (HER) located approximately 200km from the conference venue.
By sea:
Chania can be reached from Athens (port of Piraeus) daily by boat. The trip takes approximately 9 hrs. The company operating the route is ANEK Lines (please see ferry schedules at this link). Boats dock at Chania’s port Souda bay, which is located about 7 km east of the city of Chania. From there one can reach the conference venue within an hour by bus or taxi.
Transportation from Chania airport to the conference venue
The conference venue can be reached from the Chania Airport by taxi or public buses. The full fare for a taxi, including airport surcharge is around 60 Euros. Duration of the trip may range from half an hour to an hour depending on traffic.
Organised Transfers
A number of buses will be arranged on the days of arrival and departure. Please indicate that you would like to use this option on the registration form.
Car Rental
All major international/European and several local rental car companies service the Chania airport. Note that car rental is a relatively expensive and often an adventurous option on Crete.
