Social Events

The following social events/activities are offered to registered participants (information for accompanying persons can be found below): On all conference days Coffee breaks, lunches and shuttle buses from/to town.    Welcome Reception: Monday, April 22 at 17:30 hrs On Monday April 22 there will be a welcome reception at MPIK with drinks and snacks. Shuttle buses will take participants back to town after the event. Excursion: Wednesday, April 24 at 15:00 hrs All participants are invited to join one of the organised excursion options on Wednesday, April 24. The Bus will depart from the workshop site and bring participants to the Heidelberg City Center. Fees will be collected during the workshop.   1) Guided tour of Heidelberg Castle: A guided tour of Heidelberg Castle. Price around 15 - 20 Euros per person. 2) Boat tour of four castles: Round trip by boat from the central historic part of Heidelberg along the picturesque Neckar valley to the four castle town of Neckarsteinach, with the possibility to explore Neckarsteinach and its castles before starting the trip back. Duration of boat ride around 1.5 hours per way. Price around 20 - 25 Euros per person.   3) Another option is that participants may explore on their own some of the historic attractions of old Heidelberg, like the Studentenkarzer, the old bridge up the Schlangenweg to the Philosophenweg and Philosophengarten, etc. BBQ Dinner: Thursday, April 25 at 18:00 hrs The workshop BBQ dinner will be on the evening of Thursday, April 25, at 17:30 hrs at MPIK.     Buses will bring participants back to the town after the dinner.

Accompanying Persons

Accompanying persons who would like to join the excursion should be registered on the first day of the conference.
