(BioSciences Atrium) This workshop explores the role of communication in career advancement and networking. Rather than solely explaining scientific concepts, it encourages sharing research stories, challenges, and creative solutions with potential employers, collaborators, and granting agencies. It promotes discussing difficulties faced in work as a way to foster deeper, more productive connections, as this invites others to offer perspectives or connect with resources. This approach enhances memory recall, probelm-solving, leadership development, as well as fostering lasting professional relationships.
We work in a discipline of Big Ideas and far-reaching research -- are there any good ways to make the day-to-day practices of communicating incremental steps, distracting side-issues and and procedural necessities not only pleasantly tolerable, but actually professionally rewarding and (just maybe) inspiring?
