Call for Abstracts

The submission period is open until the submission deadline.

Please note that submitting an abstract does not equate to conference registration. All participants with accepted abstracts are required to complete the registration process separately.

We request you to go through the sample abstract before uploading your submission.

Submission Guidelines & Evaluation Rubric

We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the National Undergraduate Physics Conference (NUPC) organised by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati. To ensure a smooth and fair process for all participants, please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your work.

Abstract Formatting Requirements

Your abstract must adhere to the following format:

  • Length:100–150 words. Submissions significantly outside this range may be returned for revision.
  • Content: The abstract should be a concise summary of your work. It must clearly state:

    • The objective of your work.
    • The methods or approach used.
    • The results obtained or expected outcomes.
  • Figures: You may include one figure (e.g., graph, diagram, schematic) with a brief caption. If necessary, this can be a collage of images, provided it remains clear and legible. Note that adding a figure is not mandatory.

  • References: If your work has been published in a journal or uploaded on arXiv, the link to the publication/arXiv paper must be included.
  • Author Information: The abstract must list:
    >> * All authors and their affiliations.
    >> * The speaker's name should be in bold with their email address provided in the abstract.

Presentation Format: Oral vs. Poster

Based on the reviewers' best judgement, particularly in "Overall Impact & Interest," accepted abstracts will be selected for either an oral or poster presentation.

The choice of format will also depend on how well the abstract aligns with the themes and sessions of the conference. While some contributions may be more suitable for oral presentations, others may find a better fit in poster sessions, where detailed discussion and interaction are encouraged.

The final decision on presentation format rests with the organising committee.

Eligibilty Criteria

While the primary focus of NUPC is on undergraduate physics students, we also welcome graduate students who have not completed their Master’s degree by December 2026. Interdisciplinary participation is strongly encouraged, especially from students working in mathematics, engineering, biophysics, and related fields with physics-relevant research.

Important Policies

  • Plagiarism: Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection. All work must be your own or in collaboration with the other authors, and all other sources must be clearly cited.
  • Originality: Submissions should report on original work by the authors.
  • AI Use: No Generative AI may be used to write the abstract.

Please fill in all necessary fields while submitting an abstract. A sample abstract will be provided as well.

  1. Multiple authors are permitted, but each abstract may have only one designated speaker/presenter.
  2. If multiple authors wish to attend the conference, each author must register separately once registration opens. Only the author designated as the speaker may present the accepted work.
  3. All abstract submitters are expected to register once registrations open. If an abstract is accepted, the registration of the designated speaker is guaranteed to be accepted. However, submitting an abstract does not guarantee acceptance of registration.
  4. Abstract acceptance applies only to the designated speaker and does not confirm registration for any co-authors. Co-authors who wish to attend must register separately, subject to the registration process and availability.
  5. Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent within two weeks of the closure of the Call for Abstracts.
