Traveling to Madison

Nearby Airports

Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), on Madison's northeast side, provides regional and national air service to and from Madison. It is about a 15 minute drive from campus. Taxis and city bus service is available from the airport.
O'Hare International (ORD) is a simple 2 ½-hour drive from the Pyle Center via Interstate 90, about 140 miles. The Van Galder bus from O'Hare runs from the Multi-Modal Facility to the Memorial Union (very near the Pyle Center) approximately hourly; the bus trip from O'Hare takes 3 hours and is $34 each way.
Milwaukee Mitchell International (MKE) is a 1 ½-hour drive via Interstate 94, about 90 miles.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport (MSP) is a 4 ½-hour drive via Interstate 94, about 270 miles.

Please allow 20-30 minutes to reach campus, find parking and travel to your destination.

Traveling by Bus

Long distance intercity bus services providing scheduled service to Madison include Badger Coach, Greyhound, Jefferson Lines, Megabus and Van Galder bus lines.

There are daily connections to Milwaukee and Chicago airports, and Amtrak in Chicago. Many buses stop at Memorial Union.

Note that one does not need to rent a vehicle if staying in the downtown hotels (about 200 dollars), as they are within walking distance of the Pyle Center. One can find cheaper accommodation (about 150 dollars) farther out one goes from the downtown area, but you will need a car. There are a few places on bus route, which will take 30-45 minutes to get to the University from. Further note that Uber can cost 30-50 dollars, or parking at about 20 dollars, negating most savings by going further out.

Parking on and Around Campus

We encourage you to park at your hotel, where possible. There is some construction ongoing that may limit parking availability at nearby parking lots. If you do need to park near the conference location, the nearest parking lot is located here.

WiFi at the Pyle Center

The "eduroam" is available across campus and at the Pyle Center. Other guest access can be arranged for those without eduroam access; please follow the instructions here for creating a guest account, if needed. Dining Near the Pyle Center

With restaurants in the two student unions and nine delis in campus buildings, the Wisconsin Union offers a wide assortment of foods to conquer any hunger and to fit any schedule and budget.

A trip to UW–Madison wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Babcock Hall Dairy Store, the oldest university dairy plant in the United States. Best known for ice cream, Babcock also makes cheeses and locally produced milk. Visitors may view dairy plant observations via the second floor observation deck.

Dining in Madison

Madison has many fine restaurants and we are happy to help you find a good spot to eat. Our taste in restaurants runs the gambit from the low to the high end. There are many other excellent restaurants not listed here, so please do not restrict yourself to just this list, but it is a good start.
