Description
The realization of next-generation gravitational wave observatories demands a radical departure from current low-frequency sensitivity limits. To extend the cosmological horizon of ground-based networks, detectors must be shielded from intense low-frequency seismic activity and localized gravitational fluctuations. This talk will review the engineering strategies and instrumentation milestones designed to achieve sub-10 Hz sensitivity within the current GW network, highlighting the design of architectures for future detectors. The presentation will also briefly examine how site selection—from deep underground facilities to ultra-quiet surface locations—interact with active noise-subtraction techniques. These technical developments are critical for ensuring that the global network of future detectors can continuously test general relativity up to the cosmological horizon.
