Description
High-Repetition-Rate Raman lasers are an effective way to expand the wavelength range of short laser pulses and fulfil the special requirements for applications such as metrology, sensing, fundamental research and industry. Here, a synchronously-pumped diamond Raman laser at 1240 nm was firstly demonstrated with repetition-rate up to 1.84 GHz and pulse duration of 41 ps. A symmetric diamond Raman standing-wave concentric cavity was designed and the free spectral range of cavity was four times higher than the pulse repetition rate of the pump laser. An eight-fold repetition rate was achieved by synchronously amplifying both the forward and backward Raman pulses.
