Description
The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) helps identify thousands of exoplanet candidates using the transit method. This study analyzes 30 TESS light curves to characterize any potential exoplanets. After running our own BLS algorithm, we narrowed down the candidates to three. However, because many transit-like signals are false positives from nearby eclipsing binary systems (NEBs) or blended eclipsing binaries (BEBs), we used follow-up observations through the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) network and the MuSCAT telescope. After running the NEB and BEB checks, we were left with one candidate, which was modeled using allesfitter and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling. We report that the TOI 717 system likely contains a sub-Neptune with a radius of 3.69±0.25 Earth radii, a semi-major axis of 0.0262±0.00082 AU, and an orbital period of 1.92±0.00032 days. Further verification from radial velocity analysis would help confirm this exoplanet candidate.
