Description
The SABRE South experiment at the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory (SUPL) will soon become Australia’s first deep-underground direct-detection dark matter experiment. In preparation for commissioning and data taking, a suite of software tools has been developed to support detector simulation and data analysis.
This work presents the software frameworks underpinning SABRE South’s physics programme. SABREMC is a GEANT4-based Monte Carlo simulation package that simulates particle interactions and optical processes in the detector geometry. FASST models scintillation and parametric optical transport in the detector subsystems, whilst DOOM simulates the final digitised PMT readout waveforms. Pyrate provides a framework for online and offline waveform processing and analysis.
Together, these tools form an end-to-end simulation and analysis pipeline that enables detector characterisation, sensitivity studies, and analysis development. This software ecosystem has been instrumental in evaluating the expected performance and physics reach of SABRE South prior to deployment, providing a realistic representation of detector behaviour from particle interaction to reconstructed waveform.
