Description
The ATLAS Experiment’s trigger system works in real-time to accept interesting events with specific energies and structures, motivated by known physics models. While this traditional method has allowed for world-leading datasets and breakthroughs such as the discovery of the Higgs boson, this model-dependence might risk excluding unanticipated new physics that doesn’t fit our current trigger selections. To address this, our group developed GELATO (Generic Event-Level Anomaly Trigger Option), an autoencoder-based trigger that aims to collect unusual events which have evaded traditional triggers. This talk will focus on preliminary studies of the data collected by this novel triggering process.
