Bangkok International Airports

Bangkok is served by two international airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang Airport (DMK). Most long-haul international flights—especially from Europe and the United States—arrive at BKK, while many low-cost carriers within Asia operate primarily from DMK.

Getting to the University and Conference Venue

The conference venue is at Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. The campus is conveniently located in central Bangkok, making it easy to reach the campus and nearby hotels from most parts of the city. The closest metro stations are Sam Yan MRT Station and Siam BTS Statopm (Central Station).

  • Walking to the conference venue:
  • Campus Shuttle Bus operated by the university (aka CU POP Bus): See details
    • The conference venue is at "Faculty of Science" stop. Bus no. 2,3, and 5 stop there.
    • All lines will stop at Sala Phra Kiao, which is 3 min walk to the conference venue.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)

The easiest way into central Bangkok is the Airport Rail Link (ARL).

  • If your hotel is in the Sam Yan, Surawong, or Silom area:
    • Take ARL (Red Line) to Makkasan.

    • Transfer to MRT (Blue Line) at Phetchaburi station (connected to Makkasan) and ride to Sam Yan MRT.

    • The Faculty of Science is about a 5-minute walk from Sam yan MRT.

  • If you stay at the Siam area:
    • Take ARL (Red Line) to Phaya Thai (about 30 minutes).

    • Transfer to BTS (Light Green Line) and ride to Siam or National Stadium.

  • From either location, the Faculty of Science is about a 10-minute walk.

Cost & tickets (both options): about 100 THB in total.

  • MRT: you can tap a contactless Visa/Mastercard at the gates. Only a limited number of contactless debit cards are supported, so we recommend using a credit card (or buying an MRT ticket) if you are unsure.

  • ARL & BTS: you’ll typically need to buy a token/ticket at the station.

From Don Mueang Airport (DMK)

  • SRT Dark Red Line → Bang Sue (Krung Thep Aphiwat) → MRT (Blue Line): Take the SRT Dark Red Line to Bang Sue / Krung Thep Aphiwat, then transfer to the MRT Blue Line toward the city.

  • Airport Bus A1 → Chatuchak Park → BTS (Light Green Line): Bus A1 runs about every 15 minutes to Chatuchak Park, where you can connect to the BTS.
