Travel, Visa, and Arrival

Visas and the ETA system

Nationals from outside the UK and Ireland require an ETA (or a visa) to travel to the UK for tourism, business, or short-term study purposes (up to six months). Applications for ETAs can be made online via the UK ETA app or the gov.uk ETA website quickly, and will suffice for most people. (A few countries are not eligible for the ETA system: the full list of eligible countries is here. If your country is not on this list, you will need to apply for a visa -- the application pages for standard visas are here. Contact us if this applies to you and you need guidance.)

Getting to Brighton

Brighton is easily reachable by train from London and other parts of the UK. Airports for international arrivals include

  •  London Gatwick, which is only a 30 minute train ride away (recommended airport)
  • London Heathrow (direct bus connection through the National Express, or underground to London Victoria and train to Brighton from there)
  • London City Airport (underground to London Bridge/Victoria and train to Brighton from there)

Getting to Campus

From the city centre, there are two convenient ways to reach the Falmer campus

  • Train from the main station to Falmer station (fastest option)
  • Bus 25 or 25X (express bus with less stops) from Old Steine until Bramber House
