Description
We introduce an active XUV optical element that simultaneously generates and focuses isolated XUV light to the nanoscale. By illuminating an MgO nanostructured surface with an 800 nm femtosecond laser in transmission, we achieve coherent XUV generation and tight focusing (NA ≈ 0.35). However, IR contamination hampers applications. We suppress it by using p-polarized light at Brewster’s angle and optimizing MgO nanofabrication. Our method overcomes XUV optics limits, aiming for <100 nm focal
spots for high-resolution imaging, laser writing, and photoelectron applications.
