Hotel Accommodations
UPDATE 7/23/2025
Well, the hotel situation has been more complicated than anyone would have liked. We discovered today that the Cal Poly codes only work if the reservation and payment are made by our department. For self-payment, it is better to book through the regular site. La Quinta currently has rooms on 7/28 for $135/night and Quality Suites, also on Monterey Street, has rooms for $145/night. Further from campus (driving distance) is the Hampton Inn and Suites, at $181/night. Thanks for your patience with locking down the accommodations.
Campus Access/Parking Info
The hotel is located close to Cal Poly at the top of Grand Avenue. If you are walking to campus it is about a thirty minute walk to the Baker Center, with Scout Coffee and Starbucks UU along the way.
Please let us know if you need a campus parking permit and we will email you with instructions for using our department code.

Restaurants/Local Amenities
There are numerous restaurants along Monterey Street, which leads directly to downtown SLO, where there are many other options. A few of our favorites are listed below.

If you are in need of personal care products or other items, the nearest shopping options are Rite Aid (1251 Johnson Avenue) and Smart and Final (1321 Johnson Avenue), located at the corner of Johnson Avenue and Marsh Street. There is also a 7-11 Store at the corner of Monterey and Johnson.
