Lawrence and area attractions

Lawrence is a college town, home to the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University.

Lawrence was founded in 1854 by the New England Emigrant Aid Company. The city population is about 95,000.

Lawrence is a town well known in American history for the Bleeding Kansas era, which included a series of events like the Wakarusa War, the sacking of Lawrence, and Quantrill's Raid. 

KU is a public research university,  the largest university in Kansas. It was established in 1865. The main KU campus is in Lawrence. 

Downtown Lawrence hosts several shops and restaurants. Lawrence offers several live music events, and outdoor activities at Clinton Lake, the Praire Park Nature Center and others. 

The Lawrence Busker Festival will be from Friday-Monday, May 27-30
