PPP Theory Seminar: Amir Khan (Max-Planck-Institut fur Kernphysik, Heidelberg), Title: Neutrinos and the recent observations at the Dark matter experiments

US/Central
Description

In this talk, I will discuss the connection of nonstandard neutrino interactions with the recent observations at the direct detection Dark matter experiments, XENON1T and PandaX-II. Both experiments have reported an excess in the electron recoil spectrum at very low energies, in the range ~(1-7) keV which does not agree with expectation. Though these experiments are designed for the Dark matter searches, they provide a great opportunity to explore nonstandard neutrino interaction at such low energies which are otherwise are not accessible to the dedicated neutrino experiments.
