PITT PACC Workshop: Atomic Dark Matter

US/Eastern
Tao Han (University of Pittsburgh)
Description

Workshop Scope and Goals: Investigation of the possible atomic and dissipative nature of dark matter has matured in recent years. Significant progress has been made in understanding the effects of atomic dark matter on the CMB, large scale structure, as well as late time dark galactic and dark stellar astrophysics. Advances in calculating the cooling of dark atoms through atomic and molecular processes has lent us the ability to estimate the mass of dark compact objects. Upcoming hydrodynamical simulations of dark atoms will give us a more precise picture of dark atom astrophysics.  The upcoming constraints from Gaia astrometric data, the LIGO detection of the merger of compact objects, future lensing data, etc. has put us in a unique position of probing the dark atom parameter space to an unprecedented level. The aim of this workshop is to bring experts on various topics on atomic dark matter together in order to realize this goal. Plenty of time will be provided to foster collaborations among the participants.
