Summary
Effective Field Theories are a useful tool to analyze and compare different New Physics searches in a model-independent way. Moreover, they can be used to re-interpret any given SM test as a constraint on the New Physics parameter space. I will discuss its application to different cases, such as nuclear beta decay or semileptonic kaon decays, and their interplay with direct searches at the LHC. The necessary QCD input will be also discussed with some detail.
